Other Paywalls Show You Samples. We Let You Read Everything.
The full trial: time-limited, never content-limited — why we let users finish an entire channel before deciding to pay.
Before paywall.tel, the world of paid Telegram channels gave you exactly two ways to decide whether to pay. Both were uncomfortable.
The two traditional postures
Posture one: buy blind.
The channel bio promises "exclusive insights, updated daily" next to a subscriber count. You pay and open the box — it might be treasure, it might be an abandoned construction site. The money's on-chain and irreversible; if you guessed wrong, you eat it.
Posture two: look at samples.
The owner posts a few pieces in a public channel or group — the best-polished ones, naturally. You're impressed, you pay, you get in — and discover the samples were the entire highlight reel, with an ocean of filler behind them. The gap between the storefront and the actual goods is the classic seller-photo-versus-reality gap.
Both postures share one flaw: you never see the real content library before paying. And traditional paywall tools have no incentive to fix that — hiding the goods is how "below expectations" content gets sold.
Our answer: the full trial
The paywall.tel trial is not a sample, not a summary, not "three hand-picked posts" —
When you click "Enter channel for free," you step into the real channel.
History, every section, the update rhythm — all of it laid out in front of you, 30 minutes to browse freely. If we're overselling, you'll know by the end. If it's worth it, you pay knowing exactly what you're buying.
The mechanism in one line: time-limited, never content-limited. The only constraint on you is time (30 minutes on your first visit, 30 seconds on revisits) — not one post is hidden.
It's not just a demo — it's a quality filter
Once full trials exist, a natural sorting appears:
- Owners with real goods welcome the full trial. A library that survives browsing converts better the more people browse — the trial becomes its best salesperson.
- Channels built on filler fear the full trial. You can curate a sample page; you can't curate an entire library at one glance.
In other words, "dare I let people read everything?" becomes a quality signal in itself. In the paywall.tel ecosystem, low-effort channels get harder to sustain and serious ones earn a premium — exactly the ecosystem we want.
All three sides win
- Consumers: inspect the entire inventory before paying. The purchase decision turns from a bet into a choice. The mystery-box money stays in your pocket.
- Channel owners: expired triers are removed automatically, and revisits get 30 seconds — no freeloading to fear (see the anti-freeloading guide), so just make the content good.
- Referrers: no scripts, no hard sell. "Go browse for 30 minutes free and judge for yourself" is the most effective pitch in the ecosystem.
Why doesn't everyone do this?
Technically, a full trial demands a complete gating system: real-time adds and removals, second-precision trial timers, downgrade on revisit, link-leak prevention — architecture-level complexity for a "collect money, add members" simple bot.
We swallowed that cost because we believe one thing: the more transparent the information, the better good content sells. The end state of a paywall isn't keeping users outside the wall — it's both sides of the wall resting easy.
