Zero Transaction Fees, Zero Monthly Fee
The industry makes its money from per-sale fees and platform rent. Paywall.Tel charges neither — our only income comes from referral partnerships. Here's the math.
Start with a bill.
Say you run a paid Telegram channel and sell 100,000 USDT worth of subscriptions in a year. Beyond your own content costs, how much does the platform skim off the top?
| Fee model | Industry norm | Your annual burden |
|---|---|---|
| Transaction fee | 1–5% per sale | 1,000+ from year one |
| Monthly / annual platform fee | Pay before you earn | Hundreds to thousands, whether you sell or not |
| paywall.tel | No transaction fees, no monthly fee | 0 |
Per-sale fees and platform rent are the two most reliable income streams in this industry: they clip every transaction you make, and they collect rent even when you have zero customers. The practice is so old nobody asks anymore: why, exactly?
Today we're answering that question, and stating our rule plainly:
On paywall.tel: no transaction fees, no monthly fee. Every dollar you earn goes to your wallet in full. The platform takes nothing out of your transactions.
This isn't a promotion. There's no "first three months free," no "premium-tier perk." It's built into the mechanism, verifiable on-chain.
What justifies a fee? An outdated assumption
Transaction fees and monthly fees share one underlying logic: the audience lives on our turf, so you pay to sell on it.
The transaction fee is justified as "we run payments for you." The monthly fee is justified as "you're occupying our storefront."
But Telegram channel owners don't live on anyone's turf. Your audience is yours — followers follow you, not the platform. You make the content, you bring the customers. The only thing a platform actually does is collect payments and operate a door lock for you.
The technical cost of processing one payment is a fraction of a cent. Why take 1–5% per transaction? Why charge monthly rent for an automated door?
So how does paywall.tel survive?
Waiving fees isn't charity — we eat too. Our only income is a small share of referral partnerships:
- When a referrer brings you a customer: they share their link, the customer buys. On that order the referrer takes 40%, you take 50%, and the platform keeps 10% as the service fee for running the referral settlement system.
- When nobody referred the buyer (they found you on their own, or came from your own promotion): you keep 100%. The platform takes nothing.
Put differently: for referred customers, you're spending part of an order on a commission-only salesperson who gets paid only when a sale closes. No referrals, no cost. The more you lean into referrals, the more each shared dollar buys you reach you couldn't get alone. And your base business — your own traffic, repeat buyers, word of mouth — the platform never touches it.
One step further: the only way the platform earns more is by helping you grow a busy referral network that sends you more referred customers. The platform's incentives sit in the same boat as yours — unlike fee-charging platforms that collect rent even when you have zero customers.
How far can "free" go?
Fair question. Straight answer:
Where the money comes from: the 10% service fee on referred orders. That's the entire revenue line. No free tier versus paid tier, no "unlock advanced features" — every channel owner who joins gets the full paywall.tel: payments, access control, trials, anti-freeloading, the referral network. All features. No charge.
Where the money doesn't come from:
- No transaction fees, no monthly fee, no cut of any sale;
- No ID requirements, no KYC — your privacy stays intact;
- No "free now, monetize you later" — the mechanism is code, not promises. The split is hardcoded; if it ever changed, the on-chain history would show it, and you can vote with your feet at any time.
We can afford this because we've cut out the two biggest cost centers of fee-charging platforms: we don't buy traffic (channels bring their own), and we don't run a settlement finance team (on-chain payments settle themselves). The savings are precisely the fees you don't pay.
What this means for you, concretely
- Payment freedom: on-chain USDT lands in your Solana wallet in full the moment a buyer pays. No fees, no settlement windows, no "paid out on the 15th."
- Pricing freedom: you set your channel's price — 1 USDT to 10,000 USDT — and changes take effect instantly.
- Automatic access: payment instantly grants permanent VIP. Trials, anti-freeloading, group gating — all automatic. You just make content.
- A referral network: want more customers? Hand your referral link to anyone willing to share it — they earn 40%, you earn 50%, and nobody works for free.
The honest ending
"No transaction fees, no monthly fee" is easy to say and hard to live. It means we have to survive by helping channel owners earn more through referrals, not by lying back and collecting rent.
We accept that constraint, because it's a filter: it forces us to do exactly one thing well — make sure channel owners on paywall.tel genuinely earn more than they would anywhere else.
